UNLV student and professional boxer wins NABA Championship Title
UNLV student and professional boxer Max “The Babyface Assassin” Ornelas is now the NABA Championship after defeating Tony Lopez from Houston, Texas at the Cox Pavilion over the weekend. Ornelas won the eight round fight by unanimous decision. Lopez was a very skilled, precise and fast fighter but he was no match for The Assassin. Max also packs a fast punch and great on offense and defense. In the co-main event, Jimmy Williams was overpowered by Marquis Taylor from Houston, Texas in the 8 round welterweight match. Williams had a complete entourage ringside cheering him on, but not even the relentless chants could give him what he needed to win the fight. Taylor won the match by unanimous decision.
In the preliminary bouts of the night, Shady Gamhour defeated Erasmo Garcia with 3rd round TKO. Tommy Browne defeated Carlos Hernandez after the referee stopped the fight. Hernandez was knocked down twice during the first round, but it was the second knock down that the referee felt he could not continue. Gabriel Flores Jr. also defeated Alejandro Rochin and remains undefeated. The final bout was the most exciting of all. The fight ended in a split draw. Both fighters came out their corners gunning for each other from start to finish. Blow by blow each fighter took and exchanged a nice share of hits, making it near impossible for the judged to decide unanimously.
