The MGM Resorts and Las Vegas Events will host the 2018 NBA G League Winter Showcase at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The NBA G League Winter Showcase is the NBA’s premiere in-season scouting event. 27 teams will be playing 27 games for representatives of all 30 NBA teams. This is the second season the NBA G League Winter Showcase is played between two courts over seven days.
This is the first time in the league’s history that the games will be open to the media. Also this is the first time the event is scheduled for December. NBA representatives will evaluate the NBA G League players in a 10 day spread to signing period and two-way guarantee deadline. 20 players elite basketball centers outside the U.S. will scrimmage each other in the 2018 Tarkanian Classic along with building life-skills based on education, leadership, health and wellness and character.
Last year 11 players signed NBA contracts. Guard Trey Burke from Westchester Knicks has average in 36 games with the New York Knicks 12.8 points and 4/7 assists while shooting 50.3 percent from the field. The NBA G League Winter Showcase is the NBA’s official minor league springboard where over 60 players earned GATORADE Call-Ups after the last 14 Showcases.
