Defending champions Los Angeles Lakers take top seed spot at the NBA Summer League
After five days of the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League, the defending champions the Los Angeles Lakers take the top seed spot going into the elimination tournament style tip offs. The Portland Trailblazers take the number two seed. The Phoenix Suns take the third seed. Denver Nuggets take the fourth and the Houston Rockets will take the fifth seed. The tournaments start July 11 at the Cox Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Event Center on the campus of UNLV.
The tournament will wrap up with a championship game Tuesday, July 17 at the Thomas & Mack. The Lakers and Trail Blazers have first round byes for being the first and second seed teams. Either team that loses this Wednesday or Thursday will play on Friday for a consolation game. Saturday will feature a sex game slate as the championship tournament recommence.
All 30 NBA teams will compete in at least two games during the Summer League. The seeding is determined by their win-loss records and ties are broken by quarter-points and then point differential. ESPN and NBA TV will televise the games exclusively on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU Sunday through Tuesday. The games will also be live on the ESPN App.
